Jimmy Wong is Proclaimed Mr Gay Hong Kong 2011
Jimmy Wong, 26, a contemporary dancer, was proclaimed MR GAY HONG KONG 2011 in the competition’s third year, in a glittering Grand Finale on 15 October, Saturday.
The final ranking was as follows:
1st Runner Up – Bridge Hudson
2nd Runner Up – Edmund Lee
3rd Runner Up – Ricky Chau
Jimmy emerged victor based on the following criteria:
- 20% popularity (online on mrgayhongkong.com and by the audience at the Grand Finale)
- 10% votes from the production team of Mr Gay Hong Kong
- 70% from the elite Panel of Judges, further broken down into Swimwear (20%), Formal Wear (20%) and Personality Interview (30%)
The celebrity Panel of Judges was composed of:
- JuJu Chan, Cantopop Star
- Marisa Zeman, Designer, Nude is Rude
- Coco Pop, Superstar Drag Queen
- Francois Nel, Mr Gay World 2011 (South Africa)
- Greg Crandall, Country Manager, Asia City Media Group
- Joe Lam, Publisher, Dim Sum Magazine
- Tony Wong, Director, Choreographer & Bar Owner, Zoo
The Mr Gay HK 2011 Grand Finale was hosted by blogger Valerie Soh and RTHK’s “Morning Brew” presenter, Phil Whelan.
Amongst the VIPs in attendance were Mr Gay World Vice President Dean Nelson, Mr Gay World – Asia Director Noemi Alberto, Mr Gay World – Philippines 2010 Marc Ernest Biala, Mr Gay Macau Jonathan Chong, and Mr Gay Hong Kong 2010 1st Runner Up Simon Cheung Scanlon.
The show was directed by Rye Bautista, with Joe Leung as Production Manager and James Gannaban as Executive Producer.
Mr Gay HK 2011 is proudly supported by Dim Sum Magazine, Paul Gerrard, Frankie To Photography, Pink Dollar Technologies, Nude is Rude, Gentleman’s Agreement, Daigo, and venue partners Volume H.E.A.T. and Bisous.
Jimmy will represent Hong Kong in the Mr Gay World competition in Johannesburg, South Africa, on April 2012.
The Mr Gay Hong Kong 2011 Grand Finale is proud to be an anchor event of Hong Kong’s inaugural Pink Season.
